Real life for real families. This is crazy right? I mean launching the Sober on Purpose podcast on top of a blog. Nope! Actually, it is perfect. What better way to get to know all of you.
I’ll go first. This is us! Jerry, Elijah, Tanya, Wesley; the Joyous Bear family! I think Goldie Locks is the cutest.
Many couples walked before and alongside Jerry and I as we became Sober on Purpose. Those couples came for dinner, talked us down out of our respective trees when we needed it, listened to our struggles together and separately and sometimes watched our kids so we could get to counseling sessions.
While we can’t drop by and care for your kids so you can slip out for a date night or a counseling session we can encourage you through the earbuds on your phone.
Battle scars come with life. What also comes with a life well lived is wisdom and strength. Jerry and I want to extend that hand of friendship to you through this podcast and the new private Facebook group.
The Sober on Purpose Facebook group is a place of experience, strength, and hope for your new life in sobriety. We are better together as a community supporting each other on the daily journey through life.
We are those people! The magic pill for sober serenity just does not exist. Learning to live sober takes practice. If you want to stop fighting each other and start learning to fight for your family instead of with them. This podcast is for you. Welcome! Glad you are here!
Instead of fighting each other Jerry and I started working on something bigger after sobriety. Fighting for each other and for our family.
A 23-month separation left us raw and vulnerable. Sure we were working our sobriety programs separately but how would we put them together.
That is where all our friends, mentors, preachers and counselors came into play. Many of them walked beside us daily urging us to fight the good fight for our marriage and our family.
Refusing to give up, putting God in the center and seeking help brought us healing. Not all at once, but little by little with a lot of help.
Sober on Purpose, For His Purpose is not about getting sober it is about what you do after… For the rest of your life.
