Spicy Pumpkin Recipes You Will Love ( Even if you Hate Pumpkin Pie)

I do not  like pumpkin pie.  There I said it out loud.  Does that make me un-American?  No wait, that is apple pie.  I don’t like that either. The fact is I don’t really care for pie.  Wait! Don’t stop reading yet!

Here are 10 tasty spicy pumpkin dishes besides pie.

Pumpkin Spiced Granola is  a yummy treat including pumpkin seeds and warm pumpkin spices with a crunchy texture.  Warm up the kids lunches with the healthy treat.  Alice offers other great gluten-free recipes for fall lunches.

Next how about pumpkin fry bread?  A twist on the Native fry bread, this recipe gives a very plain dough some substance.

individual mug pumpkin cake servings for one gluten freeFor the family, create these wonderful chocolate chip pumpkin cookies–warm and loving on a cold fall afternoon after school,

Or what about a Sunday Morning Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls with Cardamom.  Cardamon is not a spice we use often; BUT  warm and flavorful, it stirs the blood with its heat.

Need quick, one serving treat just for you in the late afternoon,  try a Pumpkin Spiced Latte Mug Cake–can even be made  at work.  It only takes a microwave–easy to substitute gluten free flour, too!

Want something savory with pumpkin– how about Kale Pumpkin Fettuccine Alfredo with Mushrooms?  Oh be still my heart–the colors! the flavors! the pasta!

While we are being Italian, lets not forget Pumpkin Gnocchi with a creamy, spicy, Nutmeg Pumpkin Sauce.  Double the pumpkin, double the  vitamin A–serve with a big salad and hard bread.

Want pumpkin in the crock pot–you bet, a slow cooked  Pumpkin Chili?  Use the pumpkin like a red sauce and kick in a little cinnamon to bring out a unique sweet chili flavor (my idea to add the cinnamon, do it to taste).

Alright, here is a favorite of mine– Pumpkin Coconut Chicken Curry.  Really spice pumpkin with a curry twist, tell me this just doesn’t make you want to drive to the store right now.
Pumpkin Humus Pizza with Veggies!  Can I get a “what, what” from those of us trying to reduce our flour and cheese intake. Make this on a gluten free crust.  What else do you need for movie night?  Make sure your goat cheese is made from real goats milk.  Check the label.
There you have it, spicy pumpkin without the pie.  Fresh pumpkin is the best.  It is actually easy to bake; see my post on baking squash and pumpkin.
