Valentine’s Day! Humph! I am not a super huge fan. As Justine, at Traveling By Faith, calls it Valentine’s Day AKA Single Awareness Day. Justine called for a Valentine’s Day Prayer Challenge for Single Women.
I am not sure that Valentine’s Day gets any better for those of us who are not single. It just adds unneeded pressure. What if there was a Valentine’s Day gift that really meant something.
This Valentine’s Day Gift Would:
- Increase your love for each other
- Center your focus on the good in your husband
- Remove any resentment you might feel toward your husband
- Change your spirit from nagging to loving
- Bring God deeper into your marriage
- Increase your desire for your husband
- Store up treasure for you in heaven
The legend of St. Valentine speaks of him marrying Christian couples after Rome put a ban on such activity. Like Christmas, the commercial world got hold of the idea and expanded it as a day to buy things.
I imagine, neither you, nor your husband needs more things. Committed married love flourishes when the spiritual needs of the partners are nourished.
What better gift for your husband than prayers. Focused prayers on his life with the true lover of his soul. The coincidence of Ash Wednesday falling on Valentine’s Day makes this even more poignant.
St. Valentine placed couples in right relationship with each other and God through holy matrimony.
Christ sacrificed his life for us, so that we could be in full relationship with him.
Two Holy Days: A Perfect Match
Marriage signifies a commitment to deep abiding love. Love that is not just stirred by romantic passion. Marriages contain the deep love that “wills the good of other” in the union. Just as Christ lived his life in human form to give us a taste of God’s deep love for us. We are to bless our husbands as a “way to will their good” from God.
If you are struggling with your husband over anything these simple prayers will make a huge difference. I know they did for us. Look for more of our story in About Our Story and the Year Addiction Stole Christmas.
A two-legged stool cannot stand. Ask God to step into your husband’s life and your marriage will provide the third leg of the stool.
This Valentine’s Day Prayer Challenge requires no prep “just do it”. Think of the man who came to Jesus with the dying daughter. If your marriage is really on the rocks, pray for God to help you increase your faith so that he can heal you and your husband.
Then just pray. Prayers through gritted teeth are still heard by our heavenly Father.
Take This Challenge to Bless Your Husband in Prayer
What greater gift is there than to ‘will the good” of another. Blessing your husband in this Valentine’s Day Prayer Challenge for 14 days will grow your relationship beyond the temporal box of chocolates or silly bow tie.

But I Already Pray for My Husband
That is awesome! Me, too. Maybe use the challenge as a way to step it up a little. It is an awesome opportunity to pray for him out loud. How much would it touch your husband’s heart if you used these little prayer cards to pray blessings over him before he left for work?
Join the Challenge Today and Receive a Pray Card Daily
So here is what I propose. Join me in praying for your husband every day for the next 14 days. Click the I Need This button and enter your email and prayer card will pop up in your email. Be sure to look for us in your spam, if it does not happen right away.
By joining the Valentine’s Day Prayer Challenge you enter a drawing to receive your own pray Keys to the Kingdom Booklet from Prayer Point Press. Win the drawing and pick any Keys to the Kingdom Booklet you like shipped directly to you or someone you love.
I will be praying for your husband as well, when you sign up for the challenge. Jesus reminds us that when two or more are gathered he is with us. You and I, dear friend are joined in a biblical agreement to bless your husband and “will his good” through God this February.
How to use the Prayer Cards
War Room– Post them all on a wall and read through them. My Prayer War Room used to be in the shower!
Out Loud– Read them out loud over your husband.
Notes – Keep a journal for a reminder that your husband is a gift.
Silent Prayer– God hears our thoughts. Keep these as a silent gift to your husband showering him with love that needs no response.
