Meal Planning Saves Money
While I do not actually go to the grocery store in our family I do the menu planning and make the grocery list.
Tons of marketing research and common wisdom shows that the more you plan your meals the more you save on your food budget.
Check out this quick chart on the Huffington Post. Be sure to return for you free menu planner!
As it is holiday time this might just keep you from long lines and over buying. Or being in the middle of a baking project and having to pack up the kids and run to the store!
Menu Planning with Coupons
Plus planning meals ahead lets me match them to coupons. Although my husband does the shopping he is not going to fool with rolling through a bunch of coupons to find the right one. The best way is to load him up with digital coupons.
With digital coupons there is nothing to remember to bring from home. No little fiddly papers to get lost or sort through while managing the grocery cart, the kids, and your list.
Best Thing About Menu Planning
Menu planning creates time. I do not stand and stare at the freeze any more at 4 pm with a dumb look on my face. I already have a plan hanging on the fridge. I scan it in the morning which reminds me to pull out the frozen hamburger that at 4 pm is thawed and ready to start browning. This is money in the bank beause it keeps me from just saying lets run by the drive thru!
No Waste Kitchen Menu Planning
I am not there yet, but my mom has a no waste kitchen menu planning system. Not only does she have a meal plan for the week, next to the meal plan she has a list of the items that are currently in her freezer and pantry. By the end of the week (Friday) the fridge is bare except for the basic condements. My folks go grocery shopping and eat out that night on the money they saved all week!
If this is not enough to convince you that menu planning saves, money, time and agravation click over to the Pennypinchinmom.com. Her simple fun tricks will make this all clearer. Plus she shows you have to make an eraser board style menu plan so you don’t even have to waste paper.
One last nugget. If possible head to the grocery store early or late in the day. Less congestion and easier to get in and out quick! Especially on the Holiday weeks!
